There are places and their are places, all with their differing tonality and vibe. Very simply put, I like the vibe of Jimbaran. It is classy but not super expensive. Jimbaran is a real version of Nusa Dua or Seminyak. It is not as crowded or pretentious as Seminyak and is definitely more affordable that Nusa Dua. It is also not as secluded or cut off as Nusa Dua and the main street encourages people to get out of their hotel or resort, inviting them to stretch their legs and explore the area, shops, bars and stalls. It is of no surprise that this place is filled with long term expats who live in Bali, they will usually be men who will marry a none Balinese woman. Balinese won’t take crap but many western men will marry a Java woman usually with very dark skin who will be submissive subservient and accommodate for their misogynistic needs and play out their sexual fantasies. Behind closed does there are many swingers parties where Java women who have married westerners are getting stuffed by 10 or so westerners per night. That is in the eyes of many of these women is called success, marrying a westerner and having beautiful kind of white looking babies.
There are some amazing restaurants and shops in this area and the good news is Jimbaran is not overly crowded or packed. This area is most commonly known for seafood, if you want great seafood this is the place. Now if you like the smell of fresh fish then there is plenty on offer, plenty of local girls are available. According to many experts they are much more fresh than the imports from Australia, Europe or Russia which can have a very off putting taste and smell. Once thing is an absolute, the local variety is much more pleasing and cost effective.
